Payout Scenarios

Overview

This article outlines how Eagle Rewards are distributed across CodeHawks contests using two primary scenarios based on prize pool size.

Scenario A: Prize Pool < $40,000

Example: A $30K contest

Payout Structure:

  • Lead Eagle receives 10% guaranteed reward ($3K)
  • No additional Eagle Pool Reward applies

Distribution Timeline:

  1. Lead Eagle receives $3K at audit start
  2. Remaining $27K distributed among standard high/medium/low prize tiers at contest conclusion

Scenario B: Prize Pool ≥ $40,000

Example: A $100K contest

Payout Structure:

  • Lead Eagle Guaranteed Reward: 7.5% ($7.5K)
  • Eagle Pool Reward: 7.5% ($7.5K)
  • General Prize Pool: $85K

Timeline:

  1. Lead Eagle paid guaranteed reward ($7.5K) at audit start
  2. After contest results announced: "The Eagle Pool Reward ($7.5K) is awarded to the best-performing Eagle" (top 5 rank or top 5% if >100 competitors)
  3. If no Eagle qualifies, the $7.5K adds to the highest general prize tier

Possible Outcomes:

  • Lead Eagle wins pool reward if highest-ranking
  • Another Eagle receives reward if outperforming lead
  • Tied Eagles split reward equally
  • Unqualified Eagles: $7.5K increases top tier to $92.5K
