Eagle Payments

Overview

Eagles participating in CodeHawks contests receive distinct compensation separate from standard prize distributions. The "Eagle Reward" system aims to recognize their specialized expertise and leadership contributions to security audits.

Eagle Reward Structure

1. Lead Eagle Guaranteed Reward

  • Payout: 7.5% of the prize pool for major contests; 10% for smaller ones
  • Timing: Paid at the audit's start
  • Purpose: Ensures baseline compensation for time and leadership responsibilities

2. Eagle Pool Reward

  • Eligibility: Only available when the prize pool equals or exceeds $40,000
  • Allocation: 7.5% of the total prize pool
  • Distribution: Awarded to the highest-ranked Eagle meeting leaderboard criteria:
    • Top 5 for contests with ≤100 competitors
    • Top 5% for contests with >100 competitors
  • Contingencies: If no Eagle qualifies, funds roll into the primary prize tier. Multiple equally-ranked qualifying Eagles split the reward equally.

3. Capped vs. Uncapped Rewards

  • Typically uncapped, though very large contests (e.g., $1M+ pools) may have caps applied

Key Restrictions

  • Eagle rewards do not contribute toward standard CodeHawks leaderboard rankings
  • Eagles cannot serve as Paid Judges in contests they lead or participate in, maintaining judging integrity
