What are Appeals?

Overview

Cyfrin CodeHawks maintains a transparent competition environment through an Appeals Period. "For 48 hours following judging, escalations will be accepted to contest judgments."

During this window, participants can comment on GitHub submissions to request re-assessment of their work.

Eligibility Requirements

To challenge another auditor's submission, applicants must satisfy two conditions:

  1. Earnings threshold: "Have earned at least $200 USDC from previous CodeHawks competitions" to reduce low-quality challenges and prevent manipulation.

  2. Quality ratio: Maintain "a total submission to valid submission ratio greater than or equal to 0.2" demonstrating commitment to high standards.

Note: Auditors may always appeal their own submissions regardless of these criteria.

Process

After judging concludes, preliminary results release immediately, triggering a two-day appeals window. Participants can:

  • Raise concerns about their submissions
  • Provide additional context or clarification
  • Challenge findings they believe contain errors

How to Appeal

Locate your judged submission (marked with a red notification dot) in the CodeHawks portal. Review judge feedback in the comment section, then add detailed comments explaining your position. "Low-effort appeals risk being disregarded."

Key Principles

Quality matters: Appeals require solid evidence and clear reasoning. Hasty submissions face dismissal.

Restraint recommended: Excessive low-merit appeals may undermine credibility, potentially disqualifying even legitimate concerns.

Lead Judges assess all appeals during this phase. Use the Feedback Form for additional concerns.
